This Heirloom Seed Catalogue is a project designed for the course of inDesign for the Graphic Design for Print and Web program of Humber College. For this project, we were asked to take a word file with text and redesign it as an Heirloom Seed Catalogue. More specifically the project had include:
Since I was at liberty to design a logo I started my research on relative logos. My plan was to design a simple and minimal logo that would center around the idea of a seed or a sprout. I then designed a very simple sprout as the main logo and include the brand name in the display typeface. I have noticed that there are certain qualities that customers look for in brands like these and I made a list with the most wanted qualities. I placed them around the logo in order to protect the quality values of the brand. An important part of the project was to choose a typeface and a logo that would have enough contrast according to the AODA. The typeface I chose for the logo did not have much weight to create contrast so I resolved that by choosing a font with more weight.
The Interactive Catalogue
The interactive catalogue had to be designed in a way that it followed the accessibility guidelines of the AODA. I had to make sure that the text and background had an appropriate contrast ratio. It was also important that the headings and text had to be set in an appropriate hierarchy. Lastly, the images had to have alt text.
The Interactive Order Form
One more important component of this project was the design of an interactive table form. The form on the last page of the catalogue had to include the products, prices, and order amount as well as the personal information of the customer. I designed interactive text fields with descriptions that served as alt text.
